Super Heroes add excitement to Ruidoso's movie night

Bring lawn chairs, blankets and popcorn for a night of stars in the sky and on the screen

  • Super heroes include Avengers, Justice League, Black Panther, Spider man and Guardians of the Galaxy

Summers just took a step up with Super Hero Movie Nights staged by Ruidoso Parks and Recreation staff. They planned a schedule of movies throughout the summer viewed outside in the cool mountain night air.

Movie Nights in Ruidoso offer a summer of super heroes.

The next movie begins at sundown at the White Mountain Recreational Complex, 659 Hull Road, Ruidoso. Bring blankets, bring lawn chairs, bring the popcorn.

The movies are free.

On Friday, June 29, it’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” Join the movie gang at sundown as Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance. As the Guardians try to escape, the mystery of Peter's parentage is revealed.

On Friday, July 6, the feature will be “Spider-Man Homecoming.” Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man. He also tries to return to his normal daily routine -- distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just a friendly neighborhood superhero. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

On Friday, July 20, “Justice League” will show. Fueled by his restored faith in humanity, and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly-awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes in Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash, it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

On Aug. 3, watch “Black Panther.” After the death of his father, T'Challa returns home to the African nation of Wakanda to take his rightful place as king. When a powerful enemy suddenly reappears, T'Challa's mettle as king -- and as Black Panther -- gets tested when he's drawn into a conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people.

On Friday, Aug. 17, the film will be “Avengers: Infinity War.” Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet, the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.
