Corn, soybean export inspections up on year

The USDA reports U.S. corn and soybean export inspections as of June 7th remain behind the previous marketing year’s pace. The 2017/18 marketing year for beans, corn, and sorghum runs through August.

Wheat came out at 352,836 tons, down 21,504 from the week ending June 14th and 307,015 lower than the week ending June 22nd, 2017. Less than a month into the 2018/19 marketing year, wheat inspections are 1,146,765 tons, compared to 2,288,453 early in 2017/18.

Corn was reported at 1,511,746 tons, 168,583 less than the previous week, but 542,144 more than this time last year. With less than a quarter remaining in the 2017/18 marketing year for corn, inspections are 44,193,302 tons, compared to 47,585,928 late in 2016/17.

Soybeans were pegged at 514,214 tons, a decrease of 304,182 from the week before, but an increase of 185,580 from a year ago. For the marketing year to date, soybean inspections are 48,821,567 tons, compared to 52,257,602 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 336 tons, a drop of 30,789 on the week and 75,424 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,660,988 tons, compared to 5,008,757 in 2016/17.
