A Glendale police officer was injured Saturday during a high-speed chase of a stolen car near the intersection of North Port Washington Road and West Silver Spring Drive.

An officer from the Glendale Police Department was injured in a high-speed chase early Saturday morning.

Glendale police came to the area to help Whitefish Bay police in a pursuit of a stolen vehicle about 2:40 a.m. Saturday, according to a Glendale Police Department news release.

The suspects allegedly had entered an unlocked house in the 6200 block of Bay Ridge Avenue in Whitefish Bay and stole keys to three vehicles from a purse. Two of the cars were stolen from that house, and a third car was stolen from another location in Whitefish Bay, according to police.

As the pursuit continued through the intersection, a Glendale police officer was positioned to deploy a tire deflation device. The suspects' vehicle proceeded into the intersection at a high speed, drove across several lanes of traffic and struck the officer's vehicle, the release said.

The vehicle continued west on Silver Spring after hitting the officer and eluded pursuing officers, the release said. The car was later discovered, abandoned, in Milwaukee.

The officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
