James Corden Helps British Airways “Pimp [Their] Glide”

James Corden is the host of The Late Late Show, and a couple of days ago I shared a video of him “working” at The Savoy in London. In this segment he performed the duties of a bellmen, butler, and restaurant server, of course with his signature cheesy humor. While not everyone will like him, I thought it was pretty funny.

Now he’s back with another travel related segment. “Pimp My Ride” was a popular MTV show back in the day, and he’s bringing it back. Except he’s not making over a car, but rather he’s making over a plane. And not just a small plane, but rather a British Airways 787, including giving the crew some pizzazz.

Here’s the video:

I’ve gotta be honest, I’m not a big fan of this one. I thought the humor was ridiculously dumb, and I also thought the BA guy wasn’t adding much to the segment. I would have much rather seen Penny working with him.

But at the same time, my gosh, they really redid the cabin. Presumably this was one of the grounded 787s so they had a bit of time to play with it, but they really put some effort into that. I assume at least most of that wasn’t a green screen or anything, so wow…

What do you make of this “Pimp My Glide” segment?

Yep, the BA ‘executive’ is actually a British actor. I saw him an a training video for how to deal with different people during performance reviews.

Give this video a hard pass and go straight to the Paul McCartney carpool karaoke.

That was not even the least bit funny. Terrible is an appropriate word to describe it

Yes, the Paul McCartney carpool karaoke is probably the best he's ever done. Just superb.

All the BA guy needed to do was make some disapproving interesting faces and this would have been brilliant. Would have turned out much better. I still had a tiny giggle though.

Best of all; the vid led me to the Paul McCartney and Cher segments that are brilliant.

They first showed a 777 but the cabin of the 787...

Not his best bit. He is funnier than that.
