Illinois 4-H announces state livestock judging contest results

The 4-H livestock judging team from Christian County has earned first place overall in the senior division at the Illinois state judging contest.

Team members Cody Knodle, Ty Knodle, Lizzie Schafer and Layne Lebshier competed in 105-degree heat along with 170 other 4-H members on Monday.

The Christian County team will have the opportunity to represent Illinois at the national 4-H livestock judging contest at the American Royal this fall.

The team from Knox County took second place and the Morgan County team received third place honors in the senior division. The junior Knox County livestock judging team got first place in the junior division.

The top five individuals in the junior division from fifth to first were: Jack Link of Knox County, Karly Reel of La Salle County, Hayden Beard of Knox County, Dayne Gittings of Henderson County and Anna Webel of Knox County.

The top five individuals in the senior division from fifth to first were: Cody Knodle of Christian County, Lizzie Schafer of Christian County, Nicole Haverback of Henry County, Emma Freebairn of La Salle County and Eric Schafer of Christian County.
