Ruidoso Police Chief Darren Hooker

Have you seen all the side by sides in town? Boy I have. We have been getting a lot of questions about them so I am going to hit some of the high points.

Did you know that four wheelers are not allowed on any paved road? You might say isn’t that what they all are? No, the off-highway vehicles or side by sides are just that, you sit side by side not straddled. Some of the other requirements are: The vehicle must have one or more headlight and tail light. It must have working brakes, mirrors and mufflers. The operator must be licensed and have insurance. You can’t operate them after 7 p.m. or before 7 a.m.
