President Trump imposes another 50-billion in tariffs on China

President Trump says The United States will pursue even more tariffs against China if they retaliate against U.S. agricultural products or raise non-tariff barriers to trade.

Trump placed 25% tariffs on an additional 50-billion dollars worth of Chinese imports Friday morning on items he says contain industrially significant technologies.

In a statement Friday morning, the President says Chinese measures against American goods, services and companies doing business with China will prompt more tariffs.

The new tariffs cover more than 1-thousand separate tariff lines on industries that benefit from the “Made in China 2025” industrial policy, such as aerospace, information and communications technology, robotics, industrial machinery, new materials, and automobiles.

The President says the United States can no longer tolerate losing our technology and intellectual property through unfair economic practices.

Collection of the new tariffs starts July 6th unless the two countries reach an agreement before then.
