Bottom Line

Using this trick with INNCOM thermostats should result in the words VIP on the display and allow you to override the thermostat setting to make your room extra cool.

How cool is that? Have you used this before? If not, when is the first time you’ll try it?

  1. Used this at the Marriot in St Thomas this fall. For some reason the regular temp wasn’t cold enough, this made it so.

  2. This works on Inncom thermostats. It expands the range by 5 degrees up and down, so you can go from, say 60 to 85 (as opposed to default 65-80).

  3. Awesome, thanks! I’m going to start scouring the web for similar tricks for non-Inncom thermostats whenever I encounter one.

  4. Last night was about single digits in DC suburbs. I just turned HVAC off at hotel and the room was plenty cool. It was interesting it did still come on every once in a while and the indicator showed “FP”. My guess is this was for Freeze Protection (could be wrong).
