History was made at the Illinois State FFA convention on Thursday as the first all-female Illinois Sate FFA officer team was elected.

Sophia Hortin of the Fisher FFA Chapter was named the 2018-2019 Illinois FFA state President during the final day of the convention.

Sophia is the first female to be elected Illinois FFA state President since 2009.

Serving alongside her will be Vice President Eliza Petry (Rochelle), Reporter Shaylee Clinton (Mt. Vernon), Secretary Miriam Hoffman (Earlville) and Treasurer Taylor Hartke (Teutopolis).

The five women will put their collegiate careers on hold this next year to serve Illinois FFA members.
