Milwaukee Brewers minor-league pitcher Kodi Medeiros hit a grand slam for his first career hit on Monday night.

Before the Milwaukee Brewers selected pitcher Kodi Medeiros with the 12th-overall pick in the 2014 MLB draft, they were impressed with the young left-hander's command and velocity during a pre-draft workout at Miller Park.

Medeiros, 22, has lived up to those expectations.

On Monday night while pitching for the Brewers Class AA affiliate Biloxi Shuckers, Medeiros dominated again on the mound. In six innings, he allowed just one earned run and four hits with eight strikeouts.

But it's what he did with his bat that made headlines.

In the top of the fifth inning with the bases loaded, Medeiros blasted the first pitch he saw from Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp pitcher Kolton Mahoney over the right-field fence for a grand slam.

Not only did the homer give the Shuckers a 5-0 lead, but it was Medeiros' first career hit. He entered the game with just nine career at-bats and finshed 1 for 3 with four RBI.

Jake Gatewood, a first baseman for the Shuckers, had an inside-the-park homer (No. 12) to start Biloxi's entertaining fifth inning.

Unfortunately for the Shuckers, Medeiros and Gatewood, former Brewers prospect Monte Harrison had the last big hit of the night. He smashed a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 6-5 walk-off win for the Jumbo Shrimp.
