BABCOCK RANCH — Babcock Ranch, the world’s first solar-powered town on Babcock Ranch Road/State Road 31, announced that the Sydney model home by Florida Lifestyle Homes is now open for viewing.

Offering two bedrooms, two baths and a study that can also serve as a third bedroom, the Sydney model is in Lake Timber, a neighborhood of 220 single-family lake- and preserve-view homes within walking and biking distance to Founder’s Square, the downtown heart of Babcock Ranch.

Featuring a Craftsman design with fieldstone-anchored columns, the Sydney embraces the town’s front porch lifestyle with a veranda that welcomes family and friends. Upon entry, the foyer hall leads to a great room that maximizes the home’s livability.

Norris Furniture & Interiors’ design team of Sydney Warren and Luanza Maitland incorporated natural colors and textures throughout the rooms to enhance the home’s bright and open design.

“Our goal was to achieve a feeling of timeless Old Florida,” said Warren. “We pulled in bleached, rough-hewn wood tones and textures and combined them with abstract artwork to bring the essence and colors of nature indoors.”

Light weathered wood plank ceramic tile and a sophisticated, neutral palette of white, warm taupe, sand and apple green accents unify the Sydney’s living spaces.

The Sidney model by Florida Lifestyle Homes is now open in Babcock Ranch.

The gourmet-ready kitchen features creamy shaker-style quartz-topped cabinets and plentiful of pantry space. A countertop-to-ceiling wall of 2-by-6-inch earth glass subway tile serves as a shimmering backdrop to a stainless steel range hood that coordinates with built-in ovens and the refrigerator.

The oversized kitchen island, outfitted with a sink and stainless steel dishwasher, can accommodate up to four diners. The warm taupe of the island base is echoed in the great room’s coffered ceiling. Above the island, a trio of polished nickel pendant lamps complement a lantern-style chandelier suspended above a bleached wood dining table set for a dinner party of six.

A great room accent wall covered in white wood plank wallpaper sets the stage for a creamy couch and a pair of armchairs, joined by a white-washed oak coffee table and an accent cabinet with louvered doors ideal for storing games and family photo albums. Sliding glass doors open wide to reveal a covered lanai area with space for reading and conversation, a dining area ideal for al fresco entertaining, and a spa with a decorative water feature.

The master suite’s linen-upholstered king-size headboard is flanked by a pair of oatmeal-colored nightstands with oval-shaded lamps. The spa-like bath features dual vanities with Cambria quartz countertops and a walk-in shower with a 12-inch-wide column of floor-to-ceiling mosaic of stained glass tiles in a marble-like combination of creams, beiges, soft golds and grays. Past the glass mosaic tile-accented shower, a private water closet and a walk-in closet can accommodate an ample wardrobe.

Warren and Maitland continued the natural textures throughout the home using sisal rugs and decorative plants. A guest room with a queen-size linen tufted headboard shares a bath with the Sydney’s den, which features sliding wooden barn doors that create an impressive entry.

A laundry room outfitted with raised panel cabinets, quartz countertop and utility sink is located off the two-car garage. With 2,324 square feet of air-conditioned living space, the Sydney is base priced at $499,000.

Like all other homes in this “smart city,” the Sydney comes with fiber internet direct to the home, allowing for the fastest gigabit speeds available to supply powerful internet for today’s online lifestyle.

Babcock Ranch was created by Kitson & Partners with respect for the natural environment and the philosophy that smart growth and sustainability work hand in hand. Half of the town’s 18,000-acre footprint is set aside as greenways, parks and expansive lakes, providing recreation and scenic backdrops for Babcock Ranch’s homes and the Founder’s Square downtown district.

Emphasizing a front-porch lifestyle to nurture a sense of community, Babcock Ranch promotes healthy living through a walkable community plan, 50 miles of planned biking and hiking trails, interconnected lakes for paddling enthusiasts, a calendar of exercise classes, and the Healthy Life Center managed by Lee Health at Founder’s Square scheduled to open in April, with health club facilities, nutrition counseling, therapeutic services, and medical offices opening in the summer.

Table & Tap restaurant, Slater’s Goods and Provisions, Square Scoops Coffee & Creamery, Curry Creek Outfitters, and Babcock Neighborhood School welcomed the greater community to Founder’s Square even before the arrival of the town’s first residents in early January. A downtown park offers a lakefront bandshell, boardwalk, covered pavilions, and charging stations for electronics, including cars. An autonomous shuttle – part of the town’s mobility plan – provides transportation between homes and Founder’s Square.

Babcock Ranch has seven homebuilders offering more than 50 home designs including twin villas, cottages, single-family executive, manor and custom homes featuring one- and two-story plans, two to six bedrooms, and 1,400 to 4,761 square feet of living space. Prices range from the $190,000s to $1 million. Homes are built to Florida Green Building Coalition standards, emphasizing energy and water conservation, and offer a full gigabyte of fiber-optic connectivity.

More than 30 model and quick-delivery homes are now open or under construction by Castle Harbour Homes, Florida Lifestyle Homes, Fox Premier Builders, Homes by Towne, Lennar, Pulte Homes, Solara Homes by Banroc and Stock Classic Homes. Many models are open for viewing daily.
