China Lights festival returns Sept. 21 to Boerner Botanical Gardens

The China Lights festival will return Sept. 21-Oct. 21 to Milwaukee County’s Boerner Botanical Gardens, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele announced in a statement released Friday.

It will be the third year of the popular display of lantern sculptures. The 2017 edition of China Lights drew more than 110,000 visits to the botanical gardens at 9400 W. Boerner Drive in Hales Corners.

The China Lights festival  included a large dragon in 2017 at the Boerner Botanical Gardens in Whitnall Park. The festival will return in 2018 from Sept. 21-Oct. 21.

Once again, Tianyu Arts & Culture Inc. will produce the display. The  2018 version, "China Lights: Panda‐mania," will feature panda‐habitat lantern displays in the garden, with some interactive elements.

Tri City National Bank will be the festival’s presenting sponsor.
