'Really?': The View’s Joy Behar Confronts Meghan McCain for Saying Trump's 'Fake News' Cries Make Her 'Hate the Media Too’
“The View” co-hosts Meghan McCain and Joy Behar sparred on Friday over a cover of Donald Trump on Time after Behar wondered if the magazine’s depiction of Trump as a king is “fair.”
Behar noted Trump “wants to pardon himself, he thinks he’s above the law,” and argued he was overseeing an “erosion of democracy.”
McCain claimed we “all saw” with the royal wedding that she doesn’t “give two flying blanks about anything monarchy related.”
“We live in a democracy,” McCain reminded her co-hosts.
“Well then it should bother you that he’s acting like a king,” Behar replied.
McCain said she thinks Trump’s inclusion of his family in the administration makes him “more of a dictator” before ranting about “media bias” and the left “using their political bias in their reporting.”
Turning to Trump’s attacks on the press, McCain said, “it works on me too—yes, I hate the media too.”
“Really?” Behar asked.
“Yes,” McCain said.
“Oh—I don’t feel that way,” Behar replied.
Behar went on to say she’d “rather watch reverse mortgage commercials” than hear any more about Trump, adding she doesn’t “think people understand the danger we’re in with this guy.”
