I never meant for 30 Days of Boat Drinks to turn into 30 months of boat drinks, but sometimes life and my day job converge to interrupt my blogging accomplishments. If I could start this series over, I would have begun just after Labor Day and finished it by the end of October. First, it would keep the content closer together. Second, and most importantly, the time period between Labor Day, and the month of October (and November up until the Thanksgiving holiday) are chock full of cruise deals. The deals in the 3/4 night market, which I happen to think is the most likely to bring success in spending 30 days on a cruise ship on points, tend to be very economical.

I favor the Ultimate Rewards products (Sapphire Preferred and Ink) as well as the Barclaycard Arrival World MasterCard for cruise “points currency.” I posted about both of those here. Further, in my onboard spending strategies post, I noted ways to earn even more points for you onboard spending. If you are an M-Life elite member cruising on Royal Caribbean, there may even be more opportunities for points earning through fee-waived cash withdrawals in the onboard casino. If you like to gamble, so much the better…..as long as you win. 🙂

As I tie this series up, I will part with a few thoughts. As I acknowledged more than once in the beginning, I think there are better values in points spend than cruising. That said, the purpose of this was to find a way to spend 30 days on a cruise ship. If you are one of the points rich among us, more power to you! If you follow the advice here, especially when it comes to the time of year you want to try this, I think it is doable….even if you don’t have the world’s highest point balance. Thanks for reading!
