Mercedes Courland Interiors has completed design work on a condo in Kalea Bay.

Mercedes Courland Interiors, a Naples-based interior design firm headed by Mercedes Courland, has completed interior design work on a new luxury condominium at Kalea Bay in North Naples.

"Upon entering the upper floors of Kalea Bay, I was captivated by the multiple dimensions of the panoramic view. The Gulf of Mexico dominates, with varying shades of blue hues, and extraordinary cloud formations above, expanding before you stretching for miles. The layers of greenery surrounding the waters of Wiggins Pass and its estuaries draw your eye down to the breathtaking scenery. This was my inspiration,” states Courland.

She designed the space to emphasize the importance of the view. The entire living room space complements the view. She employs nuances that give the space a magical harmony that becomes subtly revealed and unexpected. Using her experience and accumulated knowledge of materials, she created this interior that presents a sense of modernity, infused with classical elements.

She designed the rooms with a predominantly soft tone, using various shades of cremes and off-whites accented with blues that continue the theme from outside, into the interior space. It is a harmonious, consistent and seamless design.

Courland used a variety of textures to dominate and overcome the flat white walls that existed in the original space. She used a variety of exotic and distinctive wallpapers throughout, including a trompe-l’oeil illusion-effect, providing added depth in the dining room.

In the living room, a creme-colored geometric carpet was installed to anchor the furniture, and add depth and dimension, interacting with the basket weave textured wall panels made from a resin named, Titan. The living room features custom cabinetry, enhanced with doors made of iridescent mother of pearl, plus textured linen chairs, with vibrant blue pillows complementing the blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

The kitchen exemplifies her overall palette, creating a blend of color and textures. The
geometric-patterned backsplash unites the wood tones of the wide-plank flooring. To contrast with the sleek kitchen cabinets, she used a reclaimed, highly textured Russian table top, complemented by classically-defined dining chairs.

The master bedroom is defined by the dramatic accent wall, a wood-silvered wallpaper designed by Elitis of France. The textured paper is comprised of small wood pieces placed in a linear pattern, then perfected in a silvery white and black finish, framing the king-size bed. The other distinctive feature of the master is the wall of speakers, creating a modular mosaic work of art, that allows for repositioning by the homeowner at any time.

“I have created an ambiance of casual elegance with a touch of Naples’ ‘beachy' style. This dramatic, spacious home of 3,800 square feet will easily accommodate eight. The outdoor terrace with breathtaking panoramic views includes creative restoration hardware pieces, with cool-white frame, enhanced with charcoal upholstery, ideal for outdoor living,” adds Courland.

With more than than 30 years of expertise in high-caliber interior design, Courland takes on projects with a fresh and distinctly unique vision. Her architectural background enables her to navigate the construction or renovation process with ease, with timely results. The attention to details reveal interiors that boast creative space plans, innovative lighting solutions, and a perfect combination of textures, color, and form.
