John Boehner Says GOP is ‘Taking a Nap Somewhere’ While Trump Takes Over: ‘There is No Republican Party’
Sipping what “appeared” to be a Bloody Mary onstage at the Mackinac Policy Conference on Thursday, former Speaker of the House John Boehner said Donald Trump has taken over the Republican party—as his former colleagues are “kinda taking a nap somewhere.”
Boehner, who sent out a fundraising for the nonexistent Republican party just three days ago, was speaking with Local 4’s Devin Scillian at an annual political event in Mackinac Island, Michigan.
The former House speaker also offered his perspective on marijuana legalization, telling Scillian “over the next five or ten years, [it] will be available all over the country.”
In April, Boehner joined the advisory board of Acreage Holdings, which Bloomberg reports “cultivates, processes and dispenses cannabis in 11 U.S. states.”
As speaker, Boehner said he was “unilaterally opposed” to marijuana legalization.
