West Melbourne's Dhyana Mishra competes in 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee

Dhyana Mishra did not qualify for the final round in the 2018 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Although she cleared rounds 2 and 3, her total score was not enough to get her into the finals.

Will this be the year Dhyana Mishra spells V-I-C-T-O-R-Y in the Scripps National Spelling Bee?
As of Tuesday evening, the Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy student made it to round 3 of the prestigious bee in Washington, D.C. Her word? "Gallica," a compact fragrant European rose having usually pink, red or crimson flowers that yield an oil especially in perfumery, according to Merriam-Webster.
Round 3 kicks off at 8 a.m. EST Wednesday, May 30, followed by the finals at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 31, on ESPN 3.
Dhyana won the 2018 Brevard County Spelling Bee and the 59th annual Central Florida Regional Spelling Bee at the Orlando Sentinel in March. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of her older sister, Stuti Mishra, who placed second in the 2012 Scripps National Spelling Bee.

This marks her second try at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Here are some quick hits about Dhyana and the bee:
• Dhyana started reading a 400-word spelling bee list at age 6.
• In 2016, she placed second in the Brevard County Spelling Bee, losing to Anna Paduano. Both girls went on to compete in the regional bee in Orlando. At the time, whoever wins the regional bee would qualify for the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. Dhyana eventually went on to compete at Scripps that year.
• In 2017, Dhyana had qualified for the Scripps National Spelling Bee as a runner-up. She was the alternate in the event that the regional winner, Siyona Mishra (no relation) was unable to compete.

• Another fun fact about Dhyana from the Scripps bee? She loves soccer and her favorite player is @esmuellert_
