Frontier Airlines is adding flights from Sky Harbor Airport to two cities in Texas.

A Frontier Airlines flight from San Diego to Tulsa, Oklahoma, was diverted to Phoenix on Sunday after a fleeting odor was reported in the plane.

The plane took off from San Diego International Airport at 6:50 a.m. The plane made an unplanned landing at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport "due to an odor" shortly before 8 a.m., according to Julie Rodriguez, a spokeswoman for the airport.

The pilot taxied to the gate, where most passengers were able to get off the plane, Phoenix Fire Capt. Jake Von Hook said.

Fire crews evaluated 17 people at the gate. A 62-year-old male was taken to a nearby hospital for additional treatment.

Passengers described the unidentified smell as passing "through the plane and was then gone."

The cause of the odor will be investigated by the airline.

Frontier Airlines did not immediately respond to questions about whether the plane was inspected during the emergency stop and whether the flight resumed service.
