Real Madrid scores incredible goals in Champions League Final off goalkeeper blunder, bicycle kick

Two ridiculous goals — one ridiculously good and one ridiculously bizarre — helped Real Madrid pick up a third consecutive Champions League triumph on Saturday.

Karim Benzema put the Spanish giant ahead after 51 minutes with one of the most unusual strikes imaginable following a scoreless first half.

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius easily collected an overplayed long pass from the Real Madrid midfield that was too strong for Benzema to reach.

However, as Karius went to roll the ball out to a teammate, Benzema, almost casually, stuck out his cleat. By a mixture of chance and opportunism, Karius’ throw struck him on the foot, and the goalkeeper could only watch in horror as it cannoned goalwards and trickled over the line.

Liverpool was stunned, yet managed to equalize on 55 minutes thanks to the enterprising Sadio Mane, but that merely set the stage for an incredible strike from Madrid substitute Gareth Bale nine minutes later.

Bale had only been on the field for a few minutes when he a cross from the left headed in his general direction, but three feet behind him. Bale swiveled and, with his back turned to goal, acrobatically leaped into the air before swinging his boot and smashing it over his own head and past Karius’ despairing dive.

Bale wasn't finished yet, and neither was the misery for Karius. With 10 minutes left, Bale let fly when he found the ball at his feet 35 yards from goal. Even though the ball dipped wickedly mid-flight, it still should have been easy to the German goalkeeper to push away to safety. However, perhaps with his confidence still rocked, Karius appeared to lose concentration for a moment and it slipped out of his grasp and into the net — completing a Madrid hat-trick of remarkable goals — for one reason or another.

Real Madrid won the title with the 3-1 triumph.
