Here are a few ideas to inspire you before your next journey!

Cassandra likes to crowdsource her travel itinerary:

If you are planning an adventure, but have a complex itinerary or need lots of specific details to fall into place to make the whole trip work, I’ve found the Tripadvisor forums to be invaluable.

I have posted for information about numerous trips, in multiple locations and various regions and countries.  And very friendly folks were great in helping me to figure out what I should do.  Especially if you’ve never been somewhere before, others can provide really important details.

The only thing better than learning from an experience is learning from someone else’s experience!  Great idea, Cassandra!

Lauren recommends having a goal:

A few tips – know what’s most important to you (airfare, hotel, etc.).

Make a goal and work from there.

Know why you’re applying for each card, and how it help you achieve a current goal.

I couldn’t agree more!  There are so many uses for miles and points, it’s helpful to have a focus.

CB has some great advice if you have specific dietary needs:

If you have food allergies, make up a card in the local language you can show in restaurants, to make sure you can eat safely while traveling.  Also, download a few apps to locate restaurants which can accommodate your food allergies or have chefs trained in food allergies.

If you have a severe food allergy, this is critical.  Emily knows this from first-hand experience.

Dan likes to be prepared:

Best tip…bring a spare unlocked smartphone.  If my phone cannot support local carriers or I don’t want to mess with my primary phone (or it stops working), I can easily buy a local SIM card.

And I can use the spare in iffy areas or where there is a chance of damage.  I keep a good amount of music and videos on the spare so I can use it while taking transportation to or from remote locations.

I have a Verizon phone which is nice because almost all of their newer model phones are unlocked.

Marilyn makes her trips easier by:

Pack a nylon shopping bag, the kind that folds or rolls up small enough to put in a handbag or pocket.  It can come in handy for picking up snacks, carrying a sweater when it gets too warm, or extra souvenirs.  Overseas stores don’t always provide shopping bags.

I’ve got one of those bags!  And now that you mention it, I think I’ll bring it on my next trip to carry souvenirs!
