The Colorado Eagles took the first game of the Kelly Cup Finals, beating Florida 3-1 on Friday at the Budweiser Events Center.

The two teams are back in action 7:05 p.m. Sunday in Loveland.

As difficult as it was for the Eagles to advance to the Kelly Cup Finals — the team won Game 7 against Fort Wayne in overtime on Wednesday — the Eagles never trailed to hand the Everblades (12-2) only their second loss of the postseason.

With Colorado leading in the third period, things got physical as the two teams combined for 20 penalties during the period.

The Eagles got goals from Drayson Bowman, Matt Register and Shawn St-Amant.

Eagles goalie Joe Cannata posted his league-leading 13th win of the playoffs and had 27 saves.

Florida's goal came in the second period from forward Sam Warning.

Florida goaltender Martin Ouellette suffered his first regulation loss of the postseason, allowing two goals on 25 shots.
