A public meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., May 31, to introduce the new sewer line interceptor project team and to hear an update.

The 2008 food on the Rio Ruidoso destroyed bridges, stranded residents and visitors in Upper Canyon and tore out utility lines.

The session will be in council chambers at Ruidoso Village Hall, 313 Cree Meadows.

The project has been planned since a 2008 flood on the Rio Ruidoso damaged and tore out sewer lines, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers subsequently directed lines in the river bed be removed. The project involves rehabilitation, replacement and realignment of some sewer lines, with the Federal Emergency Management Agency bearing the majority of the cost, but the village required to front some dollars,

The public is invited to meet the new project team and learn about the new technical changes that will affect the project. Representatives from Molzen Corbin, High Water Mark, and D.T. Collins will attend.

According to a task order issued by the village to Molzen-Corbin, a 60 percent preliminary design is to be submitted by Aug. 25; a 90 percent pre-final by Dec. 23; bidding documents by March 8, 2019; and issuance of an award for the project by June 21, 2019.
