The new Stone Creek Coffee Cafe + Kitchen at 2650 N. Downer serves hot breakfast until 4 p.m. daily. Items include egg sandwiches, like this avocado with spicy egg and pickled relish, as well as Liege-style waffles and yogurt bowls.

Breakfast is ready. Friday marks the official debut of Stone Creek Coffee Cafe+ Kitchen on the east side.

The location at 2650 N. Downer Ave. is the first of the roaster’s cafes to serve hot breakfasts. It will have egg sandwiches, such as avocado with spicy egg and pickled relish; Liege-style Belgian waffles, including one with coffee-butter and bacon; and yogurt bowls, with house-made yogurt and in flavor combinations such as rosewater, pistachio and lemon.

Those menu items are $6 to $8.50. Customers also can order from an a la carte menu of toast, meats, fruit and a salad.

Stone Creek’s cafes already carried the roaster’s own line of baked goods. The roaster has a dozen cafes in metro Milwaukee, plus one in Madison and another on the way in Chicago.

Stone Creek moves into a space that had been vacant since 2009, bringing some life back to the corner at E. Park Place.

Besides the food, notable features of this cafe include a walk-up window for on-the-go customers, plus a large patio with built-in seating and a three-season porch that take the place of what had been a parking lot for the Associated Bank branch that was there.

Downer Ave. cafe hours are 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily; the kitchen is open 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cafe’s phone number is (414) 270-1008.
