Police officer injured during pursuit in Anderson, suspect was driving car reported stolen

Anderson Police arrested a driver who led officers on a vehicle and brief foot chase in downtown Anderson Thursday evening. 

Police were attempting to pull over a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier that day, but the driver wouldn't stop for officers, Anderson Police Capt. Mike Aikens said. The suspect's name and charges have not yet been released.

During the brief chase, the lead patrol vehicle was struck on the driver's side by another vehicle. The officer driving the vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Aikens said. 

"I imagine he's going to be OK, he was complaining of some arm pain," Aikens said. 

Anderson police caught the suspect in a reported stolen car in downtown Anderson Thursday evening.

Police haven't determined who was at fault in the accident, Aikens said. 

Police arrested the suspect after they exited their vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. 

"They were arrested quickly after a short chase," Aikens said. 

Anderson Police are investigating the incident.
