Organization working to increase US beef demand in Brazil

It’s been a little over a year since US beef has returned to the Brazilian market and the US Meat Export Federation is working to increase demand.

Cheyenne McEndaffer says label registration requirements have presented some obstacles for US exporters.  “We export to different states in Brazil and different ports,” she says.  “We wanted to learn if there was a national standard or if the import procedures varied by state.  We found out there were stat variances.  We tried to make note of those to help our exporters be better informed and better prepared.

She says there are currently only a few approved suppliers to export US beef to the country.

McEndaffer says US picanhas, or top sirloin caps, are one of the most popular cuts of US beef imported in Brazil.
