Former New York Mets player Lenny Dykstra arrested for threatening Uber driver

Former MLB player Lenny Dykstra was arrested May 23 on a felony charge of making a terrorist threat against an Uber driver, along with several drug charges.

Former New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Lenny Dykstra was arrested on Wednesday morning on a felony charge for threatening an Uber driver — a terroristic threat — and several additional drug charges, according to the Linden (N.J.) Police Department.

According to the police report, the 55-year-old former major league player threatened to kill his Uber driver with a weapon after the driver refused to change the destination location on the ride share app. In response, the 47-year-old Uber employee drove to the police station where he sped into a parking garage, honked the horn to get police's attention and jumped out of the vehicle.

Police did not seize any weapon in the vehicle, but remnants of cocaine, MDMA and marijuana were confiscated from Dykstra's belongings.

Dykstra is charged with third-degree making terroristic threats, third degree charges for possession of cocaine and MDMA and disorderly persons charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons pending a June 8 Union County Superior Court appearance, police said.

Dykstra, who helped lead the Mets to the 1986 World Series championship, was a three-time All-Star. He retired after the 1996 season.

He's faced multiple run-ins with the law in recent years, including three guilty counts of bankruptcy. In 2012, he was sentenced to three years in a California state prison after pleading no contest to grand theft auto and providing a false financial statement.

In 2015, he was charged with stealing $50,000 in jewelry from a porn star.
