Sterling Brown is from Maywood, Ill., and attended college at Southern Methodist University. He was a four-year starter there and graduated with a degree in sports  management.

The Bucks signed him last summer in a deal with the Philadelphia 76ers after the 76ers drafted Brown with the 46th overall pick in the NBA draft.

In his rookie year, Brown appeared in 54 games with the Bucks, including four starts, as well as three games with the G League's Wisconsin Herd. He averaged 4.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per contest with the Bucks.

He established himself as a gritty, active defender who never backed down from a challenge as well as a potential sharp-shooter from long range, shooting 35.2% on three-pointers.

Viral prank

The rookie had a strong performance in January against the Indiana Pacers, logging a career-high 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting, including 3 three-pointers.

At practice the next day, Bucks players pranked Brown by filling his Mercedes SUV with popcorn and filming his reaction in a video that attracted widespread attention on social media.

As Brown watched the popcorn flow out of each door as he opened it, Giannis Antetokounmpo ran in.

“This is what you get," Antetokounmpo hooted. "Do your rookie duties, man! I need some towels in my seat every game! After every game!"

Arrest, tasing

Milwaukee police arrested Brown about 2 a.m. Jan. 26.

Officers were doing a business check at the Walgreens on the city's south side, saw a vehicle parked across two handicap spaces and encountered Brown.

During the incident, police used a Taser on Brown who was arrested.

Police officials reviewed the incident, including body camera footage, and decided not to send the case to prosecutors for possible criminal charges. He was cited for a parking violation.

Brown played in a game later that day and had bruises and marks on his face.
