A 15-year-old Milwaukee boy who was missing for a week was found dead Sunday, the victim of "a senseless act of violence," according to a post by his mother on a website where she is seeking help to pay for his funeral.

"Today I received news that my 15 year old son was found dead near 12th and Keefe in Milwaukee Wisconsin," Dombanee Lincoln, mother of Dennis L. King, said in a post on gofundme.com. "My son had been missing for a week and I had a feeling something wasn't right when he didn't come home or to his grandmas house."

Milwaukee police had asked Saturday for the public's help in trying to find Dennis, whom they classified as critically missing. About 5 a.m. Sunday, police canceled that alert but did not say whether the teen had been found.

Sunday night, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a news release that it was investigating as a homicide the death of a teenage male whose body was discovered in the early morning hours in the 3300 block of North 11th Street. That is near West Keefe Avenue. Police on Monday identified the victim as Dennis.

In her post, Lincoln said, "This is the worst news I could ever hear about my young son who had plans on being a artist and a basketball player. His life was taken do to a senseless act of violence.

"My heart is broken and words can't explain how I feel right now."

In seeking funds for the funeral, Lincoln wrote, "No parent should have to make plans to bury a child. This is a very difficult time. Please help with what ever you can and keep our family in your prayers."

As of late Sunday, more than $2,000 had been raised.
