Alverno grads cash in with fresh $1 bills from U.S. treasurer at graduation ceremony

At Saturday's graduation ceremony at Alverno College, students earned their first dollar. 

U.S. Treasurer Jovita Carranza hands out diplomas and $1 bills to Alverno College grads on Saturday.

The graduates were handed uncirculated dollar bills from United States Treasurer Jovita Carranza.

Carranza's signature appears on all U.S. currency. The dollar bills given to Alverno students were some of the first that feature Carranza's signature since she took the post, according to the school. 

Carranza was named an honorary alumna. She told the students, "Success is never an outcome. Success is a process.”

Appointed by President Donald Trump, Carranza is the 44th treasurer of the United States.
