Iowa cellulosic ethanol plant is still on the market

DowDuPont continues to look for a buyer of its cellulosic ethanol plant in Iowa.

The plant, which was heralded as the biggest cellulosic ethanol plant in the world, has been closed since last November. A DowDuPont spokesman tells the Ames (IA) Tribune some parties have expressed interest in the plant but didn’t say if any of them are close to making a bid.

The plant was completed in 2015. It was built to produce 30 million gallons of cellulosic ethanol, using corn stover as the feedstock, but never advanced past its startup production stage. DowDuPont said it chose to sell the plant because it didn’t fit its strategic plan.
