ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

ON THE TRACK

Haleigh Reindl, Waterford: The Wolverines senior had her best day of the season Saturday at the Red Devil Invite at Kenosha Bradford. She won three events, posting times in each race that put her in the top 10 in the area, according to the wisconsintrackonline state honor roll. She was at her best in her specialty, the 800, where she ran a 2:15.40 that is the state's best in-season time of the year. (Her time of 2:14.87 from a preseason meet in early March holds the top spot in the state honor roll.)  Reindl also won the 1,600 in 5:12.31, the state’s seventh-best time, and was part of a 1,600 relay that won in 4:09.66, which ranks sixth.

Honorable mention

Catholic Memorial 400 relay: The team of sophomore Caroline Wedeward, junior Gab Zuern and seniors Josie Schrubbe and Kathleen Hirsch won the Classic 8 relay title in 50.96, the No. 2 Division 2 time in the state.

Jadin O’Brien, Divine Savior Holy Angels: The defending Division 1 state champion, a sophomore, won the 300 hurdles in 45.37 in Wisconsin Lutheran's Viking Invitational on Monday to break the meet record of 45.54 set by two-time state champion Michelle Garner of Greenfield.

Iyana Simmons, Dominican: The Knights sophomore won the 200 at the Butch Richardson Meet at University School on Tuesday in 27.64, a time that would tie for 14th on the Division 2 state honor roll.

IN THE FIELD

Hailey Orlowski, Wisconsin Lutheran and Rachel Seraphine, Sussex Hamilton: There were a handful of meet records set at the Viking Invitational on Monday, but these were the only athletes who established a new stadium mark. Each cleared 12 feet in the pole vault, though Orlowski took first place based on misses. The performance was a season-best for Seraphine, whose previous best was 11-6. For Orlowski, the effort marked the third time this season she cleared 12 feet or better. Her season-best of 12-2 ranks second on the overall honor roll.

Honorable mention

Micky Barratte, Mukwonago: The senior had a season-best discus throw of 117-1 to win the Classic 8 relay title Monday at Arrowhead. She also took second in the shot (39-8½) with her best throw of the season.

Armoni Brown, Waukesha South: It was business as usual for the Wisconsin recruit at the Classic 8 relays, where she took the titles in the long and triple jumps with marks of 18-6 and 37-3½, respectively.

Abby Belschner, Cedarburg and Brianna Cole, Milwaukee Lutheran: These two high jumpers tied the oldest meet record at the Viking Invitational, clearing 5-2 in the high jump Monday to tie a mark that was set by two competitors in 2008. Belschner finished first on fewer misses.

TEAM OF THE WEEK

Arrowhead: The Warhawks capped their day at the Classic 8 relays by winning the 1,600 relay in impressive fashion. The team of senior Abigail Bartelson, sophomore Madeline Walsh, junior Anna Schueth and senior Kayla Vogt posted the state’s fastest time in the event (4:04.66). Schueth, Vogt, sophomore Jane Straka and senior Maraba Roznik took the 3,200 relay title (10:00.93) earlier in the meet. Victories by senior Sarah Edwards in the 300 hurdles (47.99) and junior Rachel Diel in the high jump (4-11) helped the team edge Waukesha West by seven points.
