Precision Ag bill moves forward in Senate
Bipartisan legislation is moving forward in the U.S. Senate to increase broadband access in rural communities.
Introduced by Senators Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota and Roger Wicker of Mississippi, the Precision Agriculture Connectivity Act of 2018 would establish a task force focused on improving high-speed internet access to support precision agriculture technology. The Act sets a goal of providing broadband access to 95 percent of agricultural land by 2025.
The bill was approved Wednesday by the Senate Commerce Committee. A similar measure has been introduced in the House.
The American Farm Bureau and American Soybean Association support the legislation.
