Earn Bitcoins for hotel bookings

First there were the cash-back bonus options. Then bonus points. Now online hotel bookings can earn you Bitcoins if you use PointsHound to make your reservation.

Unlike the other earning options PointsHound offers the value of Bitcoins are highly variable making the decision to use them as an accrual path rather risky. The earning rate will be based on the value of a Bitcoin at the time of booking but it will not accrue to your account until the stay is completed. PointsHound does offer up a bit of warning to that effect:

Since loyalty and other digital currencies earned on PointsHound do not post to your account until after your travel reservation is completed, the price of Bitcoin when you receive it may be worth more or less than when you accrued it.

Also worth noting, “At this time, bitcoins cannot be earned on referral bonuses, first booking bonuses, or other PointsHound promotions.”

Bitcoin brings the total number of PointsHound partners up to 19. Definitely not my first choice of earning options, but always interesting to see the additional partners joining the program. I’d take Bitcoin over BestBuy points though.
