Marquette University is investigating an incident in which a student received electronic images containing "disturbing racial overtones."

The student received the images this week and reported them to the campus Police Department, according to a posting Wednesday on the university's website.

The Police Department was able to identify and interview a suspect after people on campus came forward with information, the posting said.

The university administration is reviewing the incident, but details are to remain confidential because of student privacy laws.

University leaders in the post reminded students that racial incidents of any sort at the Catholic Jesuit campus are unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
