In the Know: 2 new eateries bring island vibe to Coastland Center mall in Naples

Two food court additions bring a tropical taste to Coastland Center mall in Naples.

Island Vybz Caribbean Cuisine features authentic Jamaican munchies, mon. The new food court business opened April 13 next to Chick-fil-A in the space vacated last year by Burrito Fresco.

Island Vybz (pronounced Vibes, of course) has a short menu of entrees ranging from curry chicken or brown stew chicken ($7.50) to oxtails or curry goat ($10.50). Other choices are jerk chicken, jerk pork and fried chicken. Lunch specials for $5.99 each feature jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, curry chicken and fried chicken.

Appetizers are cheese beef patties ($2.25), and beef patties and fried plantains ($2). Sides feature rice and peas ($2.99), steamed cabbage ($1.99) and white rice ($1.99).

Beverage selections include island-based drinks such as Ting, D&G Jamaican flavored sodas, Tropical Rhythms blends, Vitamalt and coconut water.

Mango Biche Mia opened April 11 nearby in a kiosk in front of Great American Cookies and next to the kiddie play area at the concourse entrance to the mall’s food court.

The new business offers cups of stringed mango salad for $6 each. The simple concept has one size and one price.

The fresh mango salads may be seasoned with any combination of choices such as condensed milk, honey, sweet-and-sour sauce, lemon, vinegar, hot sauce, garlic, lemon pepper, chili pepper and salt and pepper.

Coastland Center, 1900 Tamiami Trail N, is located in the block between U.S. 41 and Goodlette-Frank Road, and between Golden Gate Parkway and Fleischmann Boulevard in Naples.
