“Go Beyond” theme for 89th Minnesota FFA Convention

Minnesota FFA members are being challenged to “Go Beyond” at this year’s State Convention.

FFA president Katie Benson says she hopes the theme for the 89th convention, which kicked off Sunday evening, resonates with members.

“Our theme this year is “Go Beyond, You Decide What’s Possible.”  Our team picked it because we thought it could be interpreted by members in a way that they can use to best challenge themselves throughout the course of the year.”

The University of Minnesota student tells Brownfield, for her, going beyond means looking at how she can support others.

“For other members of my team it means putting in a little bit of extra effort and challenging themselves to go to the next level.  So there’s a lot of different ways that members can interpret the theme, and that’s what we like so much about it.”

And, she says FFA provides a great launching pad.

“FFA is centered around preparing students for the future. So students have the opportunity to compete in career development events.  They have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, which will help them in any career field they go into.  And really just learning how to best interact with the people around them.”

Brownfield interviewed Benson Sunday at 3M Arena at Mariucci on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
