The Tubby Pig, which operated briefly in Estero, is coming to Fort Myers.

The Tubby Pig is coming to Fort Myers.

Open in Estero for just a few weeks from mid-August to September of last year, the original, short-lived Tubby Pig earned rave reviews for its chef-driven menu of Southern classics.

And then Hurricane Irma struck.

"The hurricane took all of it," said Nisa Boyle, whose son James Boyle is The Tubby Pig's classically trained chef and co-owner.

"Everything, gone."

Irma forced the Boyles to relocate, leading them to the old Chianti's space at 3732 Cleveland Ave. between Winkler and Hill avenues in Fort Myers.

The new Tubby Pig location also has a new concept, one that incorporates the Boyles' Thai roots, as well as the chef's love for beer.

Chianti's Ristorante Italiano closed in fall 2016.

"We have a brewery, Thai restaurant with our Thai barbecue, and also vegan, vegetarian options," Nisa Boyle said. "We are going to brew our own beer right here, all natural."

Nisa Boyle did not have a time frame for when the new Tubby Pig might open. She said the family is laying new tile and doing several renovations to the space.
