VOTE NOW: The Naples Daily News Athlete of the Week April 16-21, 2018

It’s time to vote for the Naples Daily News high school athlete of the week. Voting will close at noon on Thursday.

Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Collier County’s coaches during the week. Voting begins each Monday at noon.

Coaches can email scores to sports@naplesnews.com. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m.

Each winner will be presented with an Athlete of the Week T-shirt provided by BSN SPORTS. A video featuring the winner will be posted Thursday on naplesnews.com.

Here are the nominees for April 16-21:

Baseball

Collin Camarigg, Gulf Coast – Hit a home run and was the winning pitcher against Cape Coral, then hit a triple in a win over Bishop Verot

Softball

Lynndsey Dixon, Palmetto Ridge – Had five hits in two games last week, including two double and a home run

Boys Lacrosse

Connor Doyle, Gulf Coast – Led the Sharks with four goals in a victory over Immokalee in the district finals

Girls Lacrosse

Sophia Chickering, Naples – Scored three goals as the Golden Eagles beat Barron Collier to win their first district championship, handing the Cougars their first-ever loss in the district tournament

Boys Track

Ray Pierre, First Baptist – Won titles in the long jump and triple jump as the Lions won the Class 1A-District 8 team championship

Girls Track

Malaya Melancon, First Baptist – Won a district championship in the long jump and 4x100 meter relay and also advanced to regionals in the 100.

Boys Tennis

Michael Moll, Naples – Helped the Golden Eagles win the district championship by earning the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles titles.

Girls Tennis

Sophia Min, Community School – Took the titles at No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles to help the Seahawks win the team championship at the Class 1A-District 10 tournament.
