Soybean, corn export inspections stay slow

 

The USDA reports that as of the week ending April 19th, corn and soybean export inspections continue to trail their respective expected paces. The 2017/18 marketing year runs through May for wheat and August for beans, corn, and sorghum.

Wheat came out at 619,251 tons, up 114,295 from the week ending April 12th, but down 12,798 from the week ending April 20th, 2017. With less than a month and a half to go in the 2017/18 marketing year, wheat inspections are 21,494,298 tons, compared to 23,810,760 late in 2016/17.

Corn was reported at 1,719,025 tons, 142,832 higher than the previous week and 252,047 above this time last year. More than halfway into the marketing year, corn inspections are 29,774,261 tons, compared to 37,258,734 a year ago.

Soybeans were pegged at 470,817 tons, 24,386 more than the prior week, but 176,996 less than a year ago. At this point in the marketing year, soybean inspections are 42,822,784 tons, compared to 48,944,679 last year.

Sorghum inspections totaled 123,362 tons. That’s an increase of 6,775 tons on the week and 87,097 on the year. 2017/18 sorghum inspections are 4,309,048 tons, compared to 4,093,477 in 2016/17.
