Hey Anderson, here’s how comedian Ron White will make your cheeks hurt from laughing

On Saturday, don't be surprised if Anderson gets a celebrity sighting or two. That morning, comedian Ron White will be around in advance of his 7:30 p.m. show at the Civic Center of Anderson. But he won't be running through his material. Chances are he will be on one of the many area golf courses ready to play a round.

Comedian Ron White to perform at the Civic Center of Anderson on Saturday, April 28.

"We usually travel all night and I wake up at a golf course just about every day," White said during a phone interview from his home away from home, Atlanta. "That's how we kill the day before a show and I got the whole crew playing these days."

White is the scotch-slugging, cigar smoking comedian who made an international name for himself with the Blue Collar Comedy Tour team of Jeff Foxworth, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. But these days, he's back to his stand-up roots performing around three to four shows a week and traveling all over the country.

With one of those stops being Anderson on Saturday, it was a surprise to White that he had never performed the Electric City before. He figured that at this point in his career, he'd visited them all.

"I know I've been all around (Anderson), so this will be a first," White said. "That doesn't happen to me too much anymore."

White's comedy is based on life experiences and stories of his past. His most famous is the "Tater Salad" routine that earned him the nickname "Tater Salad." But you won't catch White going after politicians or trying to turn his material and the brand he has built into something it's not.

"I actively avoid that low hanging fruit," said White, referring to political humor. "I don't get my comedy from television. Every talk show in America can do that. My fans are dead split politically and there is no sense alienating anyone. It's not what I do."

What he does do and what Anderson can expect is a belly full of laughs over a glass of tequila (White owns a tequila company and has replaced his signature scotch with that on stage) and some pretty irreverent material that makes no apologies.

"I am going to go out there in Anderson like I do everywhere else and beat the (beep) out of you," White said. "My fans want to walk out after the show holding their face because their cheek muscles are sore from laughing."

Ron White will perform at the Civic Center of Anderson at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com. Cost is $29 per person not including taxes and fees.
