WRIT widens its lead, holds onto No. 1 spot on radio ratings scorecard for 37th straight month

WRIT-FM (95.7) rebuilt some of its lead atop the overall radio ratings scoreboard in March.  

A month earlier, the classic hits station was No. 1 by half of a share point, over news-talk WISN-AM (1130). But the two stations' slice of the overall radio audience went in different directions March 1-28, according to Nielsen Audio numbers posted Thursday by radio industry newsletter Tom Taylor Now. 

The result: WRIT, No. 1 for the 37th straight month among overall listeners, had a 9.4 share, up from an 8.8 in February — nearly two share points ahead of WISN, which had a 7.5 share in March, down from 8.3 the month before.

Classic rock WKLH-FM (96.5) had a 7.4 share in March, up from 6.3. Rock station WHQG-FM (102.9) had a 6.1 share, down from 6.4, and news-talk-sports WTMJ-AM (620) had a 6.0 share, down from 6.2. 

Rounding out the top 10: 

WMIL-FM (106.1), a 5.4 share in March, up from 5.0; WMYX-FM (99.1), 5.2, unchanged; WKKV-FM (100.1), 5.1, down from 5.2; WKTI-FM (94.5), 4.4, up from 4.0; WXSS-FM (103.7), 4.4, up from 4.1. 

Audience shares for listeners 6 and older for the rest of the Milwaukee radio market (or at least the stations that subscribe to Nielsen's ratings service): 

WLDB-FM (93.3), a 4.3 share, down from 4.8; WLUM-FM (102.1), 3.7, down from 4.0; WJMR-FM (98.3), 3.4, down from 3.8; WRNW-FM (97.3), 2.7, down from 3.0; WUWM-FM (89.7), 2.7, up from 2.4; 

WSSP-AM (1250), a 1.3 share, down from 1.6; WYMS-FM (88.9), 1.3, up from 1.2; WRNG-FM (106.9), 1.1, down from 1.3; WHAD-FM (90.7), 0.9, up from 0.8; WZTI-AM (1290), 0.8, down from 1.0; WIIL-FM (95.1, Kenosha), 0.7, unchanged; WMSE-FM (91.7), 0.6, up from 0.5; WYMS-H2 (streaming), 0.4, not reported the previous month; WOKY-AM (920), 0.3, up from 0.2.
