UNL event connects ag and non-ag students

Husker Food Connection took place Tuesday on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln City Campus.

It was a chance for ag students from East Campus to connect with their City Campus counterparts, answer questions, and share personal experiences from production agriculture. The event was sponsored by the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska and numerous ag clubs on East Campus.

“Living in an agricultural state, like Nebraska, and recognizing that only two percent of the population comes from a farm, and two to three generations removed, linking producers and consumers is an important task for the future of the agriculture industry,” said David Schuler, a senior from Bridgeport, Nebraska and president of the UNL Collegiate Farm Bureau Club.

“It’s just been really, really great being able to bring East Campus—agriculture—to City Campus and show the public and UNL students where their food comes from and connect the consumer to agriculture,” said Cadrien Livingston, a sophomore ag communications major from Orchard, Nebraska.

The event featured a free lunch, farm equipment displays and an opportunity for students to interact with farm animals.
