Kenny Darity intentionally strangled a woman to death in February 2017, court records allege.

A 58-year-old Montgomery man has been arrested and charged with murder after the remains of a missing Montgomery woman were discovered in Lowndes County last week.

Kenny Darity is charged with strangling Christina Bloss to death on Feb. 18, 2017.

Bloss, 28, was originally reported missing by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 28, 2017.

"She originally went missing in February of 2017 from a neighborhood in the west part of Montgomery County off of Old Selma Road," MCSO Capt. George Beaudry said. "There was no relationship between the two other than they were acquaintances."

Bloss' family and friends lost contact with her on Feb. 18, which they said was unusual as she regularly contacted her children.

Beaudry said hunters in Lowndes County last week discovered Bloss' remains.

"He (Darity) had been a suspect in her disappearance, but there wasn't the evidence to tie him to the case until the remains were found," Beaudry said.

Authorities arrested Darity on Tuesday and set bond at $150,000.

Court documents allege Darity strangled the victim to death with his hands.

According to the ALEA website, Darity is a registered sex offender in the state. He was convicted in Autauga County in 2005 for possession of obscene matter depicting persons younger than 12 years old.
