Jo Malone Tropical Cherimoya Cologne

With this brand, you quite often get some slightly advanced notice of what’s coming and when I saw the email about this, I literally could not wait to get my hands on it! I love any kind of tropical scent – the very idea of beaches, sunshine, sea shores and exotic flowers are enervating and exciting. It’s a little bit more than a single scent launch; collectively called The Hot Blossoms Collection, Jo Malone is bringing out a Body Mist – their first ever – alongside the Tropical Cherimoya Cologne. I don’t have the body mist here, but it’s called Cattleya Flower Body Mist. Come to think of it, I have no idea what a Cattleya orchid flower smells like but its often described as sweet and creamy. In the Jo Malone version, it’s topped with citrus and given depth with vetiver.

Jo Malone Tropical Cherimoya Cologne

Cherimoya is actually a fruit rather than a flower – it’s native to South America and is known for its sweetness. This is just a gorgeous, summery, light fragrance that has a tropical thread running through it without being obviously so. There’s passion flower, tonka bean and pear in this mix – it’s creamy and warm with a distinct sunshine feel to it. It’s quite a simple fragrance – it’s undemanding so you’re not asked to unravel multiple layers or notes but just bathe your senses in this enveloping moment of sweetness and sun searing through humidity.

Both Hot Blossoms are launching in May: the 100ml cologne is £95 and the 30ml is £47.
