The Marcus Theatres CineLatino Film Festival has plenty on tap for families, including the family fiesta on April 15.

The purpose of Marcus Theatres' second annual CineLatino film festival is to celebrate Hispanic culture and heritage, especially as shown through film.

While it may at first seem like a film festival would be more of a grown-up thing to do, there will be plenty of family-friendly activities at the festival, which runs Thursday, April 12, through Sunday, April 15, at South Shore Cinema in Oak Creek.

"These are all family-friendly events meant to celebrate and embrace our diverse community," said Julie Caan, media relations specialist at Marcus Theatres.

The most kid-friendly events will be on Saturday and Sunday.

Cerveceros tailgate party

On Saturday, the Cerveceros tailgate event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. This movie tailgate party will be put on with help from, who else, the Milwaukee Brewers.

There will be tailgate games to play, photo opportunities with Bernie Brewer and the Chorizo Sausage plus the chance to see kid movies "Coco" and "Ferdinand," some of which will be Spanish-dubbed and others which will be in English with Spanish subtitles.

Family fiesta

The family fiesta is the big event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. Kids will be able to do crafts such as Mexican folk art and decorative skull cut-outs inspired by the Mexican Dia de los Muertos. There will also be snacks, face painting and photo booths, and more showings of "Coco" and "Ferdinand."

Activities at the two events are free, with the exception of tickets to see the movies, which cost $7.50.
