The continued to fill holes among their roster prior to the , reportedly signing Kony Ealy to a one-year deal earlier today.

Ealy was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in 2014 and spent the first three seasons of his career with the team. He was then traded to the New England Patriots prior to the 2017 season. He didn't appear in any regular season games for the Patriots, however, as Ealy was cut in August. The New York Jets quickly signed Ealy after the Patriots cut him, and Ealy spent 2017 with the Jets.

Kony Ealy hasn't had too much success during his career, tallying 15 sacks and 54 tackles thus far. Ealy's best seasons came in 2015 and 2016 with the Panthers, but he failed to make much of an impact with the Jets a year ago.

The best game of Kony Ealy's career came during Super Bowl 50, leading many fans to overrate him as of late. Ealy could provide some solid depth to the Cowboys , but if asked to be a starting defensive end, I would be shocked to see Ealy have much success.

Still, the signing makes sense for a Cowboys team looking to add depth to their defensive line group.
