Tyler Mansfield of Barron Collier competes at the Collier County Athletic Conference track and field meet at Naples High School on Saturday.

The Naples High School boys and girls track and field teams put on a show in front of its home crowd in Saturday’s Collier County Athletic Conference meet.

The boys team placed first in five events en route to winning its second consecutive CCAC title, while the girls team won seven events to claim the girls crown.

“I’m just really happy for the kids,” Naples boys coach Bronze Bruland said. “They come out and compete every day, and that’s all we try to do. We try to compete and we’re getting better every week.”

Jett Su contributed to Naples win with victories in the discus throw and the shot put.

“It feels great to help the team,” Su said. “The past couple of weeks I had been struggling to hit that 50 mark in shot put, but this week I did. In discus I threw well too, so it feels good.”

Along with Su’s victories, the Eagles claimed the 200-meter dash, 4x100 relay, 4x800 and the high jump to finish 123 points ahead of runner-up Immokalee.

Jouvensly Bazile of Golden Gate and Barron Collier’s Tyler Mansfield turned in strong performances. Bazile won the 100 dash and long jump, and Mansfield won the 300 and 110 hurdles, respectively.

In the girls meet, the Eagles avenged their second place at last year’s CCAC meet by edging out Gulf Coast.

“This is really awesome,” Naples girls coach Natalie Marker said. “It’s good to see the hard work the girls are putting in pay off. We’re still young, so it’s good to see these young kids building confidence.”

Jillian Dempsey’s victory in the 3,200 helped propel the Eagles.

“We really needed those points to help get past Gulf Coast,” Dempsey said. “My coaches told me to stick with whoever was first in the first mile and for the fifth and sixth lap to kick it in.”

Dempsey also won the 1,600 followed by second- and third-place finishes from Zoe D'Antonio and Logan Straface, respectively, to help the Eagles finish 73 points ahead of runner-up Gulf Coast.

Erika Mogelvang and Autumn Mogelvang complemented the Eagles dominant 4x800 and 4x400 relay performances with a first- and second-place finish, respectively, in the high jump.

Golden Gate's Mia Francois won her second consecutive CCAC title in the triple jump Lely's Susan Linn won the 100 hurdles and Gulf Coast's Paula Gomes took the 800.
