Prep roundup: Palmetto Ridge softball beats St. John Neumann

The Palmetto Ridge High School softball team beat St. John Neumann 10-0 on Friday night.

Palmetto Ridge scored six runs in the first inning and four in the second to seal the game.

Markie Rosenbalm hit a home run, Jaden Montalvo had two RBIs and Destiny Boaz finished with two hits for the Bears.

Baylee Haggard picked up the win in the circle, striking out five in two innings. Sofia Rojas struck out three in three innings of relief for Palmetto Ridge.

“Ladies looked good tonight, hit the ball well,” Palmetto Ridge coach Brian Creel said. “Pitchers threw well.”

Palmetto Ridge (10-2) is at Riverdale on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

NAPLES 11, GOLDEN GATE 2: Ashlee Lykins tossed a complete-game four-hitter with three strikeouts, also going 4 for 5 at the plate to lead the Golden Eagles.

Naples had 18 hits as a team, with Delaney Heidel belting a three-run double in the third inning.

BASEBALL

SEACREST 11, SARASOTA CHRISTIAN 1: Andrew Miller hit a home run for the Stingrays. Erick Chavez, Andrew Geiger and Dwight Zafra each finished with two hits.

Geiger picked up the win on the mound, surrendering four hits, while striking out five.

NAPLES 12, GOLDEN GATE 5: Darius Bradley went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and three stolen bases for the Golden Eagles.

Sam Almadovar had a double and three RBIs. Ryan Stahlman got the win, throwing five innings and striking out six.

Naples (7-4) has won seven of eight.

BOYS LACROSSE

COMMUNITY SCHOOL 18, PORT CHARLOTTE 2: Landon Micelle led the Seahawks with six goals. Chris Kastroll added five goals. Tyson Chur had a hat trick. Mike Binkowski found the net twice. Sebastian Youngs and Jose Gurdian scored once. 

NAPLES 18, BISHOP VEROT 11: Christian Drouin had seven goals, and Hunter Thornhill and Mackey Peck had four apiece for the Golden Eagles at home. Zach Woodring, Nate Graney and Alex Lykins each had a goal. Zeb Fuller had 16 saves.

Naples plays at Barron Collier on Tuesday.

GIRLS TENNIS

GULF COAST 7, LELY 0: In singles for the Sharks, Shale Bouchard beat Victoria Novotny, 6-0, 6-0. Zoe Rosu topped Tatiana Meyers, 6-0, 6-0. QiQi Anderson defeated Victoria Alvarez, 6-0, 6-1. Emma Schilling won 6-1, 6-0 over Eden Krumholz and Darien Striebel beat McKinley Champeau, 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles, Rosu and Cambelle Bouchard won 6-2, 6-3 over Novotny and Elise Prodanov. Audrey Sanchez and Ana Veliz beat Meyers and Champeau, 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.

BOYS TRACK

FIRST BAPTIST INVITATIONAL: Community School’s Jackinson Felix won the discus throw with a distance 37.78 meters. He also won the shot put (13.10 m) The Seahawks’ Michael Chen won the 100-meter dash in 11.43 seconds. CSN’s Peter Barakett won the 800-meter run in 2:21.75. Michael Chen, Alejandro Landron, Billy Chen and Kane Aldrich won the 4 x 100 m relay (44.91 seconds).

GIRLS TRACK

FIRST BAPTIST INVITATIONAL: Community School’s Loren Brown won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.38 seconds. She also won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.97.
