Brock Osweiler signs with Miami Dolphins

USA TODAY Sports

Brock Osweiler is switching teams for the fourth time in two years.

QB Brock Osweiler just finished his second stint in Denver.

The veteran quarterback has signed with the Miami Dolphins, reuniting with head coach Adam Gase, Osweiler's offensive coordinator in Denver from 2012 through 2014.

Since winning five of seven starts as Peyton Manning's temporary replacement in 2015 with the Broncos, Osweiler has been an itinerant passer. He signed a four-year, $72 million deal to be the Houston Texans' starter in 2016 but was traded to Cleveland after that season in a salary dump. Unable to secure the Browns' starting job, Osweiler was released in the 2017 preseason and ultimately wound up back in Denver, where he started four games last year.

Osweiler now will likely serve as Ryan Tannehill's primary backup in Miami given Matt Moore and Jay Cutler are no longer on the roster.

A second-round pick in 2012 once viewed as Manning's long-term successor in Denver, Osweiler has a 13-12 career record. He's passed for 6,171 yards, 31 TDs and 27 interceptions.

Also Friday, the Dolphins officially added running back Frank Gore while re-signing offensive lineman Sam Young.
