ZFS buys Iowa soybean processing plant

A Michigan company will restart a former CHS soybean processing plant in Iowa.

ZFS Creston, LLC, an affiliate of Michigan-based Zeeland Farm Services, Inc., has purchased a soybean processing facility, soy flour mill, grain elevator and non-gmo soybean inventories from CHS Inc. in Creston, Iowa.

CHS shut the facilities down in December 2017 citing a need to restore financial flexibility for the company.

The southwest Iowa facility can produce soybean meal, soy white flakes, soy flour and soybean oil. ZFS says they will focus on specialty markets with all products.

Zeeland Farm Services, Inc. operates a soybean processing plant at its headquarters in Zeeland, Michigan and is building a second plant in Ithaca, Michigan which is expected to start accepting grain this fall.
